I am a born and bred, incredibly proud, Londoner. A product of everything this wonderful city has to offer, from schooling to the arts, from business, to nightlife, to its melting pot of multiculturalism.

The Mayoral elections are on the 2nd May and Labour need all three of your votes for the London Assembly and to re-elect Sadiq Khan as our Mayor in London.

My background is not political. I am a business leader with over 20 years’ experience, and a single mum to an amazing toddler. He is a key inspiration behind my decision to submit my candidacy for this position, so that I can help shape the future for all London’s children.

As a physics graduate, entrepreneur, Chief Financial Officer, and board director, I have a deep understanding of the industries that make London a world-leading city – such as financial services, AI, big data, media and sustainability.

My parents came to the UK in the Sixties. My father, from Sri Lanka, was an engineer with the GLC and later ILEA. My mother, from Mauritius, was a nurse in our NHS for all her working life. They started their married life in Tooting, and I was born in what was South London Women’s Hospital in Clapham. When I was 5 years’ old, we moved from Tooting to the London Borough of Merton where we laid down roots and where I still live today.

My parents taught me the importance of hard work, commitment and giving back to society, especially the local community.

These are the values I will bring to the London Assembly should you choose me. Working with our Mayor, Sadiq Khan, I would focus on giving every Londoner opportunity, safety and equality.

But to do this Labour need all 3 of your votes on the 2nd May.
